Summer watering has now finished for 2025. See you all next year.
Wickford in Bloom relies on the support of so many local people, groups, schools etc. but we wanted to say a huge thank you to a few local businesses that also support us throughout the year in many different ways.
Wickford Railway Social Club for allowing us to hold our monthly committee meetings, we are always made to feel so welcome and its a fantastic local club.
Carter & Ward for the use of their yard on the summer planting weekend, its so helpful for us to be able to prepare the flowers prior to planting.
Halls Pet & Garden Supplies for support with the bulb appeal, you can purchase bulbs now amongst many other wonderful products in store.
Emblem for helping with a water supply at the far end of the town, without this it would make the volunteers work so much harder. Please support this amazing local shop.
Wickford Town News for allowing us to have free news articles in the monthly magazine/Facebook page.
A.E.Harnett & Sons nursery for the supply of another year's amazing flowers, along with fantastic help and advice.
Wickford Town Council for the funding this financial year which has allowed us to continue without the risk of running out of funds, previously raised with grants, donations, etc.
We are lucky to have such a great community with some wonderful businesses, please do all you can to shop local and get behind them all.
We now have new sponsor signs on most of the baskets and planters. The 3 big planters near Cossons and the 2 smaller ones near Peacocks are proving a bit tricky as the signs we generally use won’t stick to the surface so we need to think of an alternative. The 3 big planters near Cossons are looking very pretty now as we replanted them with plants given to us by Perrywoods BHN garden centre. The bees are loving the Nepeta and the Verbena Bonariensis. These plants should over winter and come back bigger and better next year. We will also be improving the planting in the 2 smaller planters in a couple of months time as we still have over half of the £1000 given to us by Perrywoods to spend on sustainable planting.
Wickford in Bloom is looking for local businesses and residents to sponsor the High Street baskets for the coming summer. In 2024 we had over 40 sponsors and we are hoping to do even better this year. The baskets will be £130 each inc VAT and each basket will have a sign underneath giving the name of the sponsor. The baskets usually go up at the end of May but it is weather dependent. To sponsor a basket or ask for more information please email our treasurer Louise Petley on wickfordinbloom@gmail.com.
